The KRA 405B Radar Altimeter system consists of the KRA 405B transceiver, dual KNI 416 indicators, and two antennae. The system provides each pilot with dependable, accurate AGL (altitude above ground level) information during the approach phase of a flight. The system alerts the pilot visually when a predetermined altitude (decision height) is reached. Aural alerts can be installed with compatible audio controllers.

Installation of the Honeywell KRA405B meets the requirements of TCCA CAR 605.36 / AWM 625.36 and as well satisfies the following Air Operator requirements;

• 722.18(5)(c) for external load operations at night
• 723.08(1)(a)(ii)(C) and (1)(b)(vii(B) Special Procedures for NDB/ARA Offshore Instrument Approach Procedures and CAT I ILS 100' DH requirements.
• 724.08(1)(b)(i) and (2)(g)(ii) Special Procedures for NDB/ARA Offshore Instrument Approach Procedures and CAT I ILS 100' DH requirements.
