{"id":108,"date":"2011-09-14T12:23:06","date_gmt":"2011-09-14T19:23:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/maxcraft.ca\/blog\/?p=108"},"modified":"2011-09-14T12:23:06","modified_gmt":"2011-09-14T19:23:06","slug":"garmin-does-it-again","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.maxcraft.ca\/blog\/garmin-does-it-again\/","title":{"rendered":"Garmin does it again!"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span>The New <span>Garmin<\/span> <span>Aera<\/span> 796\/795!<\/span><\/h1>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00c2\u00a0<span>This product is amazing!\u00c2\u00a0 <span>Garmin<\/span> is now introducing the new <strong>aera 796<\/strong> and <strong>aera 795<\/strong>, a new portable aviation navigation device.\u00c2\u00a0 As <span>Garmin&#8217;s<\/span> new <span>product<\/span>, the <strong>aera 796<\/strong> has the popular features of the GPSMAP696, and then added new capabilities such as touchscreen user interface, pilot-selectable screen orientation and 3D vision!<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span>This <strong>aera 796<\/strong> also takes the pilot a step closer to a paperless cockpit offering a digital document viewer, scratch pad and <span>pre<\/span>-loaded <span>geo<\/span>-referenced <span>AeroNav<\/span> IFR and VFR <span>enroute<\/span> charts. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/garmin.blogs.com\/.a\/6a00d83451bb7069e20154356b2223970c-120wi\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" title=\"Garmin Aera 796\" src=\"http:\/\/garmin.blogs.com\/.a\/6a00d83451bb7069e20154356b2223970c-120wi\" alt=\"\" width=\"120\" height=\"195\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00c2\u00a0<span>The <strong>aera 796<\/strong> has a high-resolution and sunlight <span>readable<\/span> 7 inch capacitive touchscreen display that can be viewed in portrait or landscape mode.\u00c2\u00a0 This design is optimized to fit on the yoke and perfectly sized as a knee-mounted device.\u00c2\u00a0 There are four touch keys on the the unit representing &#8220;back&#8221;, &#8216;menu&#8221;, &#8220;direct-to&#8221; and &#8220;nearest&#8221; for quick navigation to frequently used functions, and <span>because<\/span> the <strong>aera 796<\/strong> customizable, the user can also pick <span>favorite<\/span> features or pages to anchor as icons along the bottom of the screen for even faster access.\u00c2\u00a0 With finger touchable icons, intuitive pictures and labels this is a must have. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\">Enhanced situational awareness with 3D Vision<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span>The <strong>aera 796<\/strong> features 3D Vision which is a unique 3D view of database-generated terrain.\u00c2\u00a0 3D Vision uses\u00c2\u00a0GPS position and the terrain-alerting database to recreate a behind the aircraft perspective view of the topographic landscape.\u00c2\u00a0 The resulting virtual rea<span>lity<\/span> display offers pilots a supplemental 3D depiction of<\/span><span>\u00c2\u00a0land and water features including terrain, obstacles, runways and airport signposts all shown in relative proximity to the aircraft.\u00c2\u00a0 With the flick of\u00c2\u00a0your finger, the 3D view can be rotated around the\u00c2\u00a0aircraft to easily view the surround terrain.\u00c2\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\">The path to a paperless cockpit<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span>The IFR <span>enroute<\/span> charts and VFR Sectional charts come <span>pre<\/span>-loaded, and the <strong>aera 796<\/strong>\u00c2\u00a0 also includes <span>geo<\/span>-referenced <span>Garmin<\/span> <span>FliteCharts<\/span>.\u00c2\u00a0 With FliteCharts, pilots can quickly find and view all departure procedures, standard terminal arrival routes, approach charts and airport diagrams, with a <span>ChartView <\/span>enablement option.\u00c2\u00a0 Other new features include a built in digital document viewer that enables the pilot to load and view PDF documents, JPEG photos, and many other electronically\u00c2\u00a0materials including checklists and detailed performance\/procedural data from the aircraft flight manual.\u00c2\u00a0 There is also a convenient scratch pad for writing down clearances or other important notes (don&#8217;t forget to pick up milk list!). <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\">Added support for helicopter missions<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The addition of option city Navigator data on the <strong>aera 796 <\/strong>allows the user to stear and locate any desired surface address for use as flight play waypoint or for aerial direct-to navigation.\u00c2\u00a0 This makes it even easier for helicopter and <strong>fixed-wing <\/strong>operators to respond to critical missions around streets and highways, survey land or perform search and rescue operations.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\">Instrument back up, weather and traffic<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Garmin&#8217;s patented Panel Page on the <strong>aera 796<\/strong> offers a back up solution to the <strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">flight instrument panel <\/span><\/strong>with its exclusive display of GPS derived panel information, with track indication, GPS altitude, groundspeed, vertical speed and turn indication.\u00c2\u00a0 The internal GPS provides position updates 5x per second.\u00c2\u00a0 Also includes GXM 40 receiver for XM WX Satellite Weather and SiriusXM Radio.\u00c2\u00a0 XM WX Satellite Weather gives next generation radar, aviation routine weather reports, terminal aerodrome forecasts, temporary flight restrictions, lightning, winds aloft, turbulence forecasts, PIREPs, icing forecast and other important weather products.\u00c2\u00a0 The <strong>aera 796<\/strong> will also display traffic if coupled to a compatible traffic source like the GTX 330, showing TIS where available. <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"Garmin Aera 796\" src=\"http:\/\/static.garmincdn.com\/en\/products\/010-00967-10\/g\/mg-04-lg.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"341\" height=\"277\" \/><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\">Safetaxi, Airport Directory and more&#8230;.<\/h2>\n<p>Taxiing at unfamiliar airports is made easier thanks to SafeTaxi\u00c2\u00ae, which includes geo-referenced diagrams of over 1,000 U.S. airports that identify runways, taxiways and hangars, as well as the aircraft\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s exact location on the field. The <strong>aera 796<\/strong> also has AOPA Airport Directory data, an electronic version of AOPA\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s popular U.S. pilot guide, which includes information for over 5,300 public -use airports and nearly 7,000 FBOs.
