{"id":3444,"date":"2015-01-14T22:12:47","date_gmt":"2015-01-14T22:12:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.maxcraft.ca\/blog\/?p=3444"},"modified":"2015-03-09T23:30:33","modified_gmt":"2015-03-09T23:30:33","slug":"garmin-announces-solid-state-radar-for-helicopters","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.maxcraft.ca\/blog\/garmin-announces-solid-state-radar-for-helicopters\/","title":{"rendered":"Garmin Announces Solid State Radar for Helicopters"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1 style=\"text-align: justify;\">GWX 70H Brings Advanced Radar Features to Rotorcraft<\/h1>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Garmin is pleased to announce the helicopter-optimized GWX 70H weather radar, that combines exceptional range and adjustable scanning profiles with precision target definition for accurate, real-time weather analysis in the cockpit.\u00a0 The GWX 70H also offers horizontal scan angles of up to 120 degrees and pilot-adjustable sector scanning from 20 degrees to 120 degrees.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Compared to earlier generation magnetron-based weather radar systems, the GWX 70H offers significant improvements in capability, reliability, and cost of ownership.\u00a0 The GWX 70H adds industry standard environmental features that provides protection from the elements, further aiding in reliability.<a href=\"http:\/\/www.maxcraft.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/radar_GWX-70H.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-3447\" src=\"http:\/\/www.maxcraft.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/radar_GWX-70H-276x300.jpg\" alt=\"radar_GWX-70H\" width=\"276\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.maxcraft.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/radar_GWX-70H-276x300.jpg 276w, https:\/\/www.maxcraft.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/radar_GWX-70H.jpg 323w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 276px) 100vw, 276px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\">Advanced Features<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Optional software enablement provide advanced features for compatible displays including Turbulence Detection and Ground Clutter Suppression.\u00a0 Turbulence detection is advanced, Doppler-enabled technology used to identify turbulence in air containing particulates, such as precipitation or dust, out to 40 nautical miles.\u00a0 Ground clutter suppression allows the GWX 70 and GWX 70H to identify radar returns from the ground and remove them from the display.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">These enablement\u2019s are now available on both the 10&#8243; and 12\u201d versions of the GWX 70 and 70H. Previously, only the 12\u201d and larger versions of the GWX 70 weather radar were capable of utilizing these features.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">With the addition of Ground Mapping Mode, the GWX 70H provides a real-time depiction of terrain so operators can easily detect natural and man-made ground features, further enhancing situation awareness.<a href=\"http:\/\/www.maxcraft.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/GTN-Weather-Radar2-e1420575272421.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-3448\" src=\"http:\/\/www.maxcraft.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/GTN-Weather-Radar2-e1420575272421.jpg\" alt=\"Weather Radar\" width=\"250\" height=\"295\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\">GWX 70R Also Available<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Also available is the GQS 70R, a version of the GWX 70 with a 90 degree horizontal scanning range to accommodate smaller wing mounted radomes, typically found in single engine aircraft.\u00a0 The newly available GWX 70R includes all of the standard features of the GWX 70 and optional capabilities include enablement\u2019s for Turbulence Detection and Ground clutter Suppression.\u00a0 Antennas are available in 10\u201d, 12\u201d and 18\u201d sizes.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\">Display Compatibility<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The GWX 70H is compatible with the breadth of Garmin multifunction displays, including the GTN 750, GTN 725, certain configurations of the G1000H integrated flight deck and the G500H.\u00a0 Features vary between displays.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0<em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.maxcraft.ca\/\" target=\"_blank\">Maxcraft Avionics<\/a><\/em><em>\u00a0is a leader in airplane and helicopter avionic system upgrades, including installation of everything from basic VHF Radios and flight instruments, all the way to sophisticated\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.maxcraft.ca\/product\" target=\"_blank\">GPS,\u00a0<\/a><\/em><em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.maxcraft.ca\/product\" target=\"_blank\">TCAS, EFIS, and\u00a0<\/a><\/em><em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.maxcraft.ca\/product\" target=\"_blank\">glass cockpit systems<\/a>.
